‘Liverpool Crying’ — Moving & Shaking Keeps Rolling On

Fresh off the momentum of his 2026 album ‘Moving & Shaking’ and the successful singles ‘Moving & Shaking’ and ‘Hold A Light To You’, New Zealand-based singer-songwriter Craig Payne keeps the wheels turning with the third single from the album, ‘Liverpool Crying’.

With a warm nod to the unmistakable Liverpool sound of the 1960s, ‘Liverpool Crying’ delivers shimmering guitars, rich vocal harmonies, and authentic instrumentation that capture the spirit of a timeless era while still sounding fresh today. For listeners who appreciate a touch of Beatles-inspired pop in their playlists, this new track is set to become an instant favourite.

The title itself carries a story. The phrase “Liverpool Crying” comes from a memorable scene in the 1979 film Birth of The Beatles. In the moment, the McCartney and Harrison characters comment about getting soaked outside Lennon’s house. Lennon replies with the line, “It’s not raining — it’s just Liverpool crying.”

That line stayed with Payne for years, eventually inspiring the song’s concept and helping shape its distinctly Beatle-esque, ‘60s-styled sound.

Accompanying the release is a visually engaging music video that fans of the classic Liverpool sound and aesthetic will immediately recognize. Set against familiar imagery that echoes the band’s roots, the video adds another dimension to the nostalgic musical journey.

While Moving & Shaking continues to gain traction across streaming platforms, Payne is already looking ahead. New material is currently being written for a follow-up project, with one more single from the album still to come before the next chapter begins.

For now, listeners can simply enjoy the magical musical trip that is Craig Payne.
