What's Happening?

A new album for 2024 is underway, diversity of material is a focus, with the intention of producing something quite different...

My entire catalogue / song book stands at just over 100 unused chord sequences, riffs, melodies and lyrics and although in their original form they probably aren't good enough there is plenty of meat to pick off the bones and add to the mix of the next album.

The Beatles song "Now and Then' was a prime example of taking something in its raw form and making it into a strong modern release; so that's the angle I am approaching things from this year, although no AI, after all a chord, a melody, riff or lyric will just be that until they are molded and produced into something relevant for the times they are produced in.

A song generally starts as an idea in your head, an accidental riff / chord sequence stumbled upon while tuning or a random sequence of words that cross your path, so I'm taking my time to see where this particular journey takes me...

Sifting through my memories...

On a personal level, like thousands of others, I am repairing the damage caused by end of year binge eating; I don't do new years resolutions, they just set you up for failure, but rather than buy wide angle lenses for photo shoots it's probably best I get back to the gym and sensible eating so when we finish the recording I just might fit in the photos we'll need...

So taking a step back in order to take a few steps forward this is the last blog entry for a while...
