Craig Payne Music

All roads lead me here to a place of contemplation and reflection; personally, emotionally, spiritually, physically and musically... (wow! that's a bit to think about)...

I have produced six albums since December 2021; all of which I am proud of as individual chapters in my musical journey and it leads to the question of when that particular journey may or may not end.

Having floated that thought I have taken a good introspective look at my life, which at 62 years-of-age is everything I every really wanted, personal happiness, the freedom to do whatever I want to do, a wonderful wife, equally wonderful children and grandchildren, financial and material security, a modest but unique collection of guitars and musical equipment and the knowledge that, although I haven't reached the dizzying heights of 'rock stardom' I've had a pretty good crack at being a musician / songwriter and published author. (Google Craig Payne books on Amazon).

I could take the next step of just knocking off another 13 tracks for an album; but I would like to dig a little deeper for what would be a 7th album and for that to happen I need to take some time out to explore all possibilities and hopefully record something truly different.

Am I quitting music? I would say no based on the fact that music / creativity is in a musicians blood or DNA whatever and as Paul McCartney said in an interview years ago writing songs is something you can't help doing and to balance that John Lennon said something along the lines of, the chords are always the same, it's the lyrics that change and express the 'now', so the 7th album may take longer than any of my past releases...

So, the final track of 'Born Again' was 'All Roads Lead Me Here' and here I am. And it is where those roads lead me from here that will determine the road I take ahead. (unbearably deep sorry)...

I have started to write more music, often playing an acoustic guitar and recording the ideas on my phone, the creative process is alive and well but if the 7th album is possibly the last album I want it to be something different for you the listeners and for me something to be proud of for years to come.

I could go on about the world in turmoil, support some woke causes or bore you all to death with my personal views on religion and politics, like so many musical artists do these days, but I prefer to quietly work away in the background and see where the road will indeed lead me from here.

For now, take care and feel free to follow the socials via links on this site and I will see you all in cyberspace sometime in the future...
